Gavin experiments with 2-part D handles

I will soon offer these 2 part D handles for sale. They will be final-tested at Bodgers Ball 2017 in Shropshire. Their great advantage is the ease of locating your holes perfectly on the saw-plate.I rout them from 12 mm ply.

I now use Google photos to store my images. How can I post those images on this board?

I tried the Img and the URL buttons - neither worked for me.

Fly press use?

Has any one used a fly-press to punch out teeth on longsaws? I have found someone to make dies for me. So I wonder about actually making saws at events like Bodgers Ball... I understand fly press works fine on 4 teeth per inch saws - and finer. I wonder how well it would work on big-tooth saw...

Re: New Pit Saws

Minimum quantity is 500 units.Download the pdf and you'll see.

At EUR42.6 for the 8 foot long one they are cheap. Note they are not sharpened and may be terribly out of joint.
So if you do have EUR 21,300 you'd like to put into saws let me know. I'll take one off you - at even EUR 50 :D

Re: tapering a saw with electrolyis?

I have this detailed comment from someone who clearly knows: What you have described is called Electro-Chemical Milling (ECM). It is widely used in the aerospace industry for parts with complex contours. Characteristics of the process would seem to make it ideal for tapering saws: * Metal removal ra...

tapering a saw with electrolyis?

Electrolysis removes rust. I'd guess it could remove steel from the saw too... ? So - perhaps by shielding part of the saw with an insulation layer of say grease and possibly by fixing the red battery-charger clip to the saw-plate to make that the sacrificial anode - would it be possible to selectiv...
